About Umm Al Quwain

Umm Al Quwain is the capital and hugest city of Umm Al Quwain Emirate in the UAE. It is the second smallest and least populated emirate and covers an area of about 720 sq. km which is equal to 1 per cent of the area of the United Arab Emirates. The city is placed on the peninsula of Khor Al Bidiyah, with the closest main cities being Sharjah to the southwest and Ras Al Khaimah to the northeast. Outside the city along the coast are mangroves, and the local economy is largely fishing.

The emirate has rich coastal mangroves along the coast of the Arabian Gulf and many islands that lie to the east of the mainland. The largest island, Al Senia, is home to Arabian gazelles, falcons and tortoises. It provides facilities for many recreational activities ranging from sailing to skydiving.

The city environment promotes easy accessibility to local and regional people, offering a destination of choice. The world's leading destination for leisure and entertainment, it has been designed with its distinctive masterplan that is carefully planned for social interaction with courtyards, plazas, water walks and a traditional souk. Traditional activities such as dhow building and sports such as camel racing and falconry are famous in the emirate. The largest water park and resort in the United Arab Emirates, Dreamland Aqua Park attracts many visitors.
