About Ajman

Ajman is the capital of the emirate of Ajman in the United Arab Emirates. It is the fifth-biggest city in UAE after Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Al Ain. Located along the Persian Gulf, it is engulfed by the bigger emirate of Sharjah in the territory. The city houses over 90% of the emirate's population. The area runs directly southwest along the coast into the city of Sharjah, which in turn is adjacent to Dubai, forming a continuous urban area.

Visitor attractions in the emirate are growing rapidly. These include the Ajman National Museum located in the Ajman Fort, Ajman Beach, the Red Fort and the museums in the Inland Enclave of Manama. The city centre of Ajman is the largest mall in the emirate and is a major attraction for its unique architectural feel and variety of shops and confectionery. The Corniche of Ajman is a popular evening and weekend destination for families and has many fast food outlets, coffee shops and stalls. Ajman's newly developed Al Zorah area supports a variety of outdoor activities, including golf, a children's play area, and kayaking.

Ajman's natural port (or Khor) is located along a natural creek that enters the city. It is also home to Arab Heavy Industries, one of the largest shipbuilding firms in the world. For international air travel, residents of the area can also use Sharjah International Airport, which are only a few kilometres away.
