Overview
Sunstone at Al Reem Island is the newest residential waterfront destination by the leading Imkan Properties lined with 1 to 4-bedroom apartments, duplexes and suites in Abu Dhabi. The high-rise advancement is oriented towards a lifestyle of taste makers seeking a residence that resembles the high-quality lifestyle achieved via fine curation and attentive design. Being a future project, it relies upon the creative nature of its environment, Makers District, where the culture, design and sea air converge in a human-scaled walkable neighbourhood on the Arabian Gulf. The architecture creates silhouettes that demarcate expansive sea and urban vistas and interiors that are welcoming, cosy: natural colour palettes, timber and silk touches, stone exteriors and gracefully balanced spaces that tells people to stay, linger and belong.
Located at Al Reem Island, a blue-chip, fast-accessed investment area with easy access to Abu Dhabi business and culture centres including Al Maryah and Saadiyat Islands. As a waterfront community Makers District in itself is a well thought-out, 18-hectare community which aims at enhancing creativity through layers of residential, hospitality, commercial, and retail. This is a community of people, with its streets, pedestrian walkways, beach, and small areas of public space that are conducive to cafes, art and chat rather than traffic. Makers Promenade is a fountain of boutiques, cafes and installations with a waterfront spine forming one kilometre that is climate controlled and keeps the neighbourhood constantly animated, but most importantly, the sea is not just present in the everyday life; this water is an integral part of it.
A few steps down the promenade give the sense of the discipline in the design of the development: the contemporary lines are clean, the glazing is generous to welcome a view of water and skyline, and the palette of the material is inspired by the coastline. Here, architecture is graced by light and life, out toward balconies and terraces; of spaces of convenience that are knitted to the sea boundary to the point, where one passes off coffee to courtyard to beach. Lifestyle promise is as evident as through the glass: the painless sea-side lifestyle is lined with retails, leisure areas, dining venues and beachside leisure at service.
The architecture is not theatrical as it is purposeful: a composition of hierarchy that exploits view opportunities to the maximum, both to the Arabian Gulf and to the skyline of Abu Dhabi. The material in the facade has been selected to fit between the surrounding maritime environment and urban modernity; porcelain, rough finish and polished metal decoration furnish an exterior of the building that is strong and graceful. Distribution of massing and placements of balconies are also coordinated in such a way that as many homes as possible can enjoy panoramic scenery and that terraces and expansive balcony planes objectify the seashore area into individual outdoor rooms. On the inside, the language of design remains reserved, by a high-context.
Leisure is understood as a luxury that is enjoyed on a daily basis. The amenity program of the development sounds more like a mini-resort: big pool decks to spend your leisure afternoons at, a state-of-the-art fitness centre with specialised cardio and weight areas. As a source of entertainment, and as a source of social gathering, there is a hi-tech cinema and entertainment centre strapped with the newest audio-visual setups - personal time immersion into the movies without going out. As an active resident, there are scenic walking and bicycle paths along Makers Promenade, making one move and experience every day, turning exercise into a discovery process.
